Title: "...and then there were two..."
Original oil painting - 8" x 11" on canvas
The Acrylic Journey ~2026
As I began to paint, the challenging task was to learn how to see the objects and recreate them with feeling and emotion. I began with oil paints. This year, however, I decided to expand my comfort zone into a different medium that dried faster and was less forgiving. I thought that, having used oil paint, I was beginning to feel comfortable.
~~So this year's challenge that I chose to accept was to use acrylic paint. And so it began.
2026 - The Coneflower Series~~
My journey topic began with simply how I saw a coneflower. Not really realistically, but personified with a semi-wild personality.
The series started to take on a "Where the Wild Things Are" feel because I began to see the unique, special ways they held their heads in the breeze.
~Certain flowers had an I love being me attitude~
~~And then they began to have a colorful personality to match their emotion.
~while others were bigger, bolder and proud~
Survival of the fittest played into the circle of life~~
~In the end, I created a huge amount of coneflower people~~
